MPU to hold LED Holiday Lighting Contest
Manitowoc Public Utilities is holding its fourth annual LED Holiday Lighting Contest to promote energy conservation and efficiency.
LED lights not only last longer and reduce energy consumption, they also operate at a cooler temperature than traditional holiday lights and create a safer alternative to incandescent lights.
The contest is open to all MPU customers. All lighting must consist strictly of LED lights. The entries will be divided into three categories based on the number of lights in a given display. In each category, entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, overall theme and the ability to attract attention.
The first 100 entries will receive two complimentary strings of LED holiday lights and $50 in Chamber Bucks will be awarded to the top entry in each category. Chamber Bucks are accepted at a wide variety of local businesses.
