Consumer advocate disputes Ameren’s energy efficiency savingsSt. Louis Post Dispatch, October 26, 2014
The first year of Ameren Missouri’s efficiency rebate program brought far more savings than regulators, consumer advocates and even the utility itself expected.
But Ameren says it should get credit for even more, sparking opposition from the state’s consumer advocate in a case that could set a precedent for rules intended to push consumers and utilities to save energy.
The Missouri Office of Public Counsel says as much as $1.9 million in excess payments to Ameren is at stake for last year alone, and more could follow from setting an energy savings accounting method generous to utilities.
