State officials voice support for Coons’ energy bill

Energy officials from Hawaii, Minnesota and Texas testified before a Senate panel on Wednesday in support of legislation co-sponsored by Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., that would extend the Weatherization Assistance Program and the State Energy Program.

Witnesses at the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Energy Subcommittee testified that the programs were helpful. The weatherization program has long helped low-income families make cost-saving energy efficiency upgrades. The State Energy Program has leveraged federal investment with state and local funds to increase energy efficiency and develop alternative energy sources.
