Onondaga Community College’s two newest buildings, Academic II and the SRC Arena and Events Center, have earned LEED Gold Certification.
LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is a certification system created by the U.S. Green Building Council to ensure that buildings are designed and constructed using green building principles.
Rick Fedrizzi, co-founder of the building council, is presenting OCC with its LEED Gold certifications today.
Academic II, which opened last year, spans the Furnace Brook gorge.The building contains a 150 seat recital hall, practice rooms, eight smart classrooms for use by the entire campus community, and faculty offices.
